Ampirical is seeking a Substation Civil Engineer in California to design foundations for substation projects, interpret geotechnical data, and perform advanced calculations. You will develop foundation plans and calculation packages, interface with clients and vendors, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements: ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree, 3+ years in foundation/structural design, and proficiency with L-Pile, RISA, AutoCAD/Civil 3D.

Qualifikationen

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• 3+ years foundation or structural engineering experience; FE certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in foundation/structural analysis software (L-Pile, RISA, Autodesk Inventor, etc.)
• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering and interpretation of soil boring data
• Experience designing foundations for utility, industrial, or infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of ASCE, ACI, AISC, and AASHTO standards
• Ability to develop detailed foundation plans and calculation packages with minimal oversight
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D; Bentley MicroStation or Bentley Substation is a plus
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE) preferred, or additional civil design experience in lieu of FE certification

Aufgaben

• Prepare scopes of work, estimates, and technical documentation for foundation engineering on substation projects
• Identify appropriate foundation types based on geotechnical conditions and loading requirements
• Perform advanced foundation engineering calculations including bearing capacity and settlement
• Conduct structural analysis for substation equipment foundations and support structures
• Develop foundation plans, sections, reinforcement details, and calculation packages for IFR/IFA/IFC deliverables
• Interpret soil boring logs, geotechnical reports, and site data with minimal oversight
• Interface with clients, project managers, and vendors to communicate solutions
• Apply governing codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, AASHTO)
• Mentor junior engineers on foundation principles and software tools
• Provide moderate field support including review of excavations and reinforcement placement
