Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Drafter/CAD Operator – Journeyman to support the DOE Western Area Power Administration activities in Lakewood, CO. This role focuses on AutoCAD drafting for substation projects, GIS-based location maps, and collaboration with design teams.

A Public Trust clearance is required to be considered. Responsibilities include creating multi-layered substation drawings, updating historical plans, and ensuring drafts meet project standards while using AutoCAD 2023.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years drafting experience, 5+ years on AutoCAD
• Expert in AutoCAD 2023
• Familiar with Raster Editor software
• Proficient with conversion of manufacturer drawings to AutoCAD 2023 format
• Experience with multi-discipline drafting (high voltage substation, civil, structural, outdoor electrical)

Responsibilities

• Prepare AutoCAD drawings for stage additions and substation upgrades.
• Create sections, structural details, and layouts for substations.
• Produce Location and Vicinity maps using GIS data.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines to resolve inconsistencies.
• Revise historical plan and profile drawings; work with sketches and verbal guidance.
