Job summary

Quanta Services, Inc. is seeking a Designer – Substation to support design projects across the QISG platform. The role emphasizes routine 2D/3D design tasks, CAD proficiency, and collaboration with engineers and drafting teams to produce high-quality drawing packages.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in electric utility substation CAD/design and hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, SDS, and related tools. Occasional travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Drafting & Design preferred; a 4-year Eng Tech degree is a plus.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in electric utility CAD/design for high voltage substations.
• Experience with 3D and/or smart design software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SDS.

Responsibilities

• Support substation design projects across the QISG platform.
• Perform routine 2D/3D physical and/or P&C design tasks with CAD proficiency.
• Work under a Lead Designer and collaborate with engineers and drafting teams.
• Develop and maintain quality drawing packages for internal and client deliverables.
• Travel for project needs; contribute to design reviews and standards compliance.
• Learn and apply corporate engineering practices and document management processes.
• Assist in problem solving and proposing project-related improvements.
