Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Pastoral Counseling, Social Work, or related Field; 1-year SUD experience preferred.
  • Must be certified or registered through the Missouri Credentialing Board with CADC/CRADC/CRAAD C or RADC-P or QMHP credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use disorder counseling using cognitive behavioral techniques and motivational interviewing.
  • Coordinate treatment recommendations with USPO/USPSO and the USDC Solicitation Agreement.
  • Ensure participation, treatment and reporting compliance with USPO/USPSO requirements and court mandates.
  • Coordinate mental health counseling, psychiatric evaluation, medication, and other services; maintain documentation and reports.

Substance Use Disorders Counselor (FEDPROB)

Full Time UBHCC Crisis Center/PB BHC/Psychiatry/SUD Clinic, Poplar Bluff, MO, US

Job Purpose

The SUD Counselor (FEDPROB) is responsible for providing integrated treatment of co-occurring disorders (ITCD) for male and female federal defendants/persons under Court supervision who have been ordered by the United States District Court (USDC) to participate in treatment. This position will also manage the coordination of other client treatment services (MH Counseling, Psychiatric Evaluation, Physical Health, Medication, etc.), as well as maintain compliance/reporting requirements detailed in the USDC Solicitation Agreement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred. Applicants with a High School diploma or HiSet certificate and at least four years of applicable SUD experience may be considered. Must be certified or registered through the Missouri Credentialing Board. Minimum required credentials: CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, or RADC-P. OR
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Pastoral Counseling, Social Work, or related Field; preferred 1-year SUD treatment experience. Must meet the Department of Mental Health’s Criteria for Qualified Mental Health Professional/QMHP (https://dmh.mo.gov/media/pdf/workforce-updates).

Core Job Duties

  • Provide substance use disorder counseling in an integrated fashion utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques, teach interpersonal strategies and coping skills, employ a motivational interviewing approach, provide de-escalation as needed.
  • Provide treatment team and United States Probation Office (USPO)/United States Pretrial Services Office (USPSO) recommendations for treatment/changes in service intensity detailed in USDC Solicitation Agreement.
  • Ensure full participation, treatment and reporting compliance is fulfilled within the USPO/USPSO treatment requirements detailed in USDC Solicitation Agreement, which includes, but not limited to: Participation multidisciplinary/Court case staffing conferences as required; Maintain monthly sign-in log and monthly urinalysis testing log and provide to USPO/USPSO as required; Assist defendants/persons under supervision with transportation expenses/alternative means of transportation. Produce all other reports, written and verbal, as required by the Court.
  • Coordinate complementary treatment services, including Mental Health Counseling, Psychiatric Evaluation and follow-up, Medication, Physical Examinations and Lab Studies, Crisis Intervention, etc. Maintain regular contact with relevant peer specialists, care coordinators, counselors, nurses, and providers.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
  • Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
