Responsibilities

  • Assist with intake and admission for new clients.
  • Conduct initial screenings and collect demographic information.
  • Obtain releases of information and admission paperwork.
  • Assist with assessments, questionnaires, and intake documentation.
  • Orient new clients to program expectations and policies.
  • Maintain contact with clients to encourage engagement in services.
  • Collect and document urine drug screens and maintain custody procedures.
  • Record and report screening results accurately and confidentially.
  • Monitor UDS supplies and equipment.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and rehabilitative groups as assigned.
  • Present curriculum and recovery-focused materials.
  • Refer concerns to licensed clinical staff.
  • Conduct outreach to individuals seeking treatment and coordinate housing resources.
  • Assist with scheduling, reminders, and team meetings.

Salary Range:

Salary Range: $38,000.00 To $38,000.00 Annually

Job Summary: The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Technician provides direct support services to individuals participating in Healing House's CSTAR outpatient treatment program. This position assists the clinical team with client engagement, intake processes, urine drug screening (UDS), group rehabilitative support services, outreach, and coordination of care. The SUD Technician serves as a key support role that helps ensure clients are connected to treatment, recovery resources, housing opportunities, and other needed services.

Job Schedule

M, Tu, F - 8:30am to 5pm

W, Thu - 11:30am to 8pm

General Accountabilities
  • Assist with the intake and admission process for new clients.
  • Conduct initial screenings and collect required demographic and program information.
  • Obtain releases of information and other required admission paperwork.
  • Assist clients in completing assessments, questionnaires, and intake documentation.
  • Orient new clients to program expectations, schedules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to encourage engagement and retention in services.
  • Collect and document urine drug screens in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain chain-of-custody procedures when applicable.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of screening results.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism during the screening process.
  • Monitor and maintain UDS supplies and equipment.
Group Rehabilitative Support Services
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and rehabilitative support groups as assigned.
  • Present curriculum and recovery-focused educational materials.
  • Promote client participation and engagement during group activities.
  • Document services in accordance with agency, funding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Refer clinical concerns to licensed or credentialed clinical staff.
Outreach and Housing Coordination
  • Conduct outreach to individuals seeking treatment and recovery services.
  • Assist individuals in locating immediate recovery housing and other emergency resources.
  • Coordinate with recovery housing providers, shelters, and community agencies.
  • Follow up with referrals to ensure successful linkage to services.
  • Support clients in overcoming barriers to treatment engagement.
Administrative and Program Support
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation.
  • Enter required information into the electronic health record.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and reminder calls.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision.
  • Support agency events and recovery-oriented activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position does not require a counseling credential and operates under the supervision of clinical leadership. The SUD Technician does not provide clinical counseling, therapy, diagnosis, or treatment planning.

Physical Demands
