Job summary

Merakey seeks a Substance Abuse Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in Alexandria, LA. The role delivers evidence-based services to clients with co-occurring disorders, providing individual therapy and leading groups.

Responsibilities include creating treatment plans, reviewing crisis plans, and conducting annual substance use assessments. The position offers a $7,500 yearly mileage stipend and a compensation range of $22–$25 per hour with a 1st shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
• Licensure requirements: LAC, CAC, PLPC, LMSW or CIT.
• Knowledge of recovery principles and recovery-driven service system.
• Valid Louisiana drivers license.
• Ability to obtain state and federal clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance abuse therapy and facilitate substance use disorder groups.
• Create and review person-centered treatment plans and crisis plans.
• Complete annual substance use assessments and progress documentation.
• Meet clients where they are in treatment and utilize Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction techniques.
• Maintain timely clinical documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans).
