Job summary

DOORWAYS is seeking a compassionate Substance Use Counselor to provide individual and group counseling within our housing programs. The role requires MAADC or CRAADC certification, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to collaborate with social services coordinators and an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and documenting client progress while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or similar field is required.
• MAADC or CRAADC certification is required.
• Experience leading individual and group counseling is preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction, recovery, emotional health, and life adjustments.
• Apply evidence-based practices appropriate for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
• Respond to internal client referrals; conduct outreach calls and complete program intakes.
• Prepare and maintain treatment plans, discharge plans, progress updates, and documentation.
• Enter accurate case notes and data into the DOORWAYS database.
