Job summary

Acadia Healthcare's Cedar Rapids Comprehensive Treatment Center is seeking a Substance Use Counselor (tCADC/CADC) to deliver compassionate individual and group counseling in a MAT-focused outpatient setting. The role emphasizes patient recovery planning, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds CADC/tCADC eligibility, with an Associate’s degree in social or health services, and experience in addiction recovery.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in social or health services required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in social or health services.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience in individual and group counseling for substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, relapse prevention.
• Documentation experience per guidelines (state/federal).
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate individual counseling.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure documentation is complete, clear, and timely.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and refer to other programs when needed.
• May plan aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Perform case management to ensure quality care.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients.
