Job summary

Acadia Healthcare’s Salem Comprehensive Treatment Center is hiring a Substance Use Counselor to support patients in an outpatient MAT program. You will provide compassionate individual and group counseling, develop treatment plans, and coordinate referrals as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires CADC eligibility or higher, and a background in addiction recovery or behavioral health. Morning hours and potential for growth are noted, with employer-sponsored supervision and CEU

Qualifications

• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional)
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone)
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions for substance use recovery
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI, relapse prevention)
• Documentation of clinical notes, treatment plans, and progress in line with state/federal guidelines
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed
• Ensure timely and clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents
• Prepare individualized treatment plans for each patient
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments
• Evaluate patient needs and referrals to other programs or facilities
• Plan for aftercare for assigned patients as needed
• Provide crisis intervention when required
• Manage case duties to ensure quality, individualized care
• Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients
