Job summary

Bangor Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), part of Acadia Healthcare, is seeking a Substance Use Counselor for our Bangor, ME location. Join a team delivering compassionate, evidence-based counseling to patients recovering from opioid use disorder.

Position features early morning hours with growth opportunities, competitive benefits, and supervision provided. Requires Maine CADC or LADC; CCS considered. Duties include individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in social/health services preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college/university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation experience with clinical notes and plans.
• Familiarity with state/federal guidelines (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient’s recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents is timely and clear.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and referrals to other programs.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Provide case management to ensure individualized care.
• Act as liaison between referrals and patients.
