Job summary

Merakey is seeking a Substance Abuse Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in Lake Charles, LA. The SAS provides individual therapy and facilitates groups for clients with severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders; you will create treatment plans and maintain clinical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other human service related field.
• Must be LAC, CAC, PLPC, LMSW or Counselor In Training (CIT).
• Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
• Valid Louisiana driver's license.
• Appropriate state and federal clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance abuse therapy and facilitate substance use disorder groups.
• Create and review the person-centered treatment plan and crisis plan updates.
• Complete annual substance use assessment and maintain timely clinical documentation.
• Use motivational interviewing and harm-reduction techniques in treatment.
• Meet clients where they are in treatment and document progress.
