Job summary

The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to counsel clients, conduct intakes, assess needs, and develop treatment plans with ongoing follow-up. The role includes crisis intervention, group therapy, and education, with referrals to community supports as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required with two years’ full-time treatment experience.
• Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC) or Missouri certification board credential preferred; CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients and conduct intakes and assessments.
• Provide crisis intervention and develop treatment plans with ongoing follow-up.
• Lead group counseling and provide education to clients.
• Make referrals to community supports and outside agencies as needed.
• Maintain confidential, accurate client documentation.
