Job summary

Applied Physical Sciences Corp in Groton, CT seeks an experienced Mechanical/Electromechanical/ Ocean or Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to design, analyze, and fabricate subsea R&D systems for DARPA, ONR, and the U.S. Navy.

You will lead design from concept through fabrication, balancing performance, manufacturability, and lifecycle constraints. The role requires collaboration with engineers and mathematicians across disciplines, and hands-on work with advanced manufacturing such as laser

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical/electromechanical/ocean/manufacturing engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree preferred for senior roles.
• Ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams including government partners.
• Experience with CAD and drawing generation and tolerance analyses.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage innovative designs and arrangements of ocean systems.
• Perform thermal, stress, buckling, electromagnetic, and other calculations to validate designs.
• Produce fabrication drawings and support manufacture through vendor interactions.
• Identify and mitigate risks in novel systems and subsystems.
• Support design reviews with Technical Data Packages and instructions for technicians.
