Job summary

Clarivet in McLean, VA seeks a Subrogation Recovery Specialist to develop cases after the initial investigation and coordinate claim payments among health plans. You will recover first-party funds and prepare cases for paralegals to negotiate liability claims.

You will interact confidently with insurance companies, providers, health plan members, and personal injury attorneys, maintaining accurate records and ensuring HIPAA compliance in a high-risk environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma with two years of subrogation, collections, insurance or COB experience; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet research.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities; able to multitask.
• Ability to analyze data, define problems, and draw valid conclusions.
• Work in a standard office environment with typical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review, identify, and develop subrogation opportunities by gathering missing information and potential sources of recovery.
• Validate claim viability and terminate pursuit when necessary; respond to communications.
• Place parties of interest on notice and send demand letters.
• Drive cases to settlement through outbound information requests; maintain case records.
• Engage negotiators/paralegals to resolve or transfer cases.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and HIPAA.
• Handle transferred calls/documents to resolve inquiries.
• Collaborate across disciplines and departments.
• High Risk role due to PHI exposure.
• Other duties as assigned.
