Job summary

Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions seeks an experienced Subrogation Attorney to join our Claims Counsel team in a hybrid role based in Denver, CO; Anaheim, CA or New York City, NY. You will provide legal representation for subrogation interests before courts and arbitration panels, handling pre-suit and litigated matters of moderate complexity.

Base salary ranges typically reflect location, with $137k–$181k for most regions and $159k–$186k for NY metro, SF, DC and MA offices.

Qualifications

• 7 - 10 years of experience litigating property and/or maritime subrogation claims.
• First or second chair experience.
• Substantial experience with research, discovery depositions, mediations and trial preparation required.
• JD required.

Responsibilities

• Handles a consistent workload of subrogation files representing Intact’s subrogation interests in property, maritime, financial and cyber matters.
• Works with Lead Attorney on pre-suit and litigated files including retaining experts, sending notices, coordinating inspections and initiating litigation.
• Conducts all appropriate legal action to protect subrogation and recovery interests, including research on motions and appeals.
• Obtains requisite authority to negotiate settlements with defense counsel.
• Interfaces with Intact’s Subrogation Claims department as files develop through pre-suit, litigation, trial or resolution.
• Reviews and reports large loss cases and schedules conferences with Subro Claims.
• Maintains strong professional knowledge of legal environments and applies information effectively.
• Directs paralegals and other staff in document production and litigation file management.
