Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers the SSN Mechanical & Components 2027 Engineering Summer Internship in Groton, CT, with potential placement in New London. The program provides hands-on exposure to submarine design and engineering under senior staff guidance.

Interns participate in mechanical design activities, strength analyses, and supplier oversight, gaining practical experience in an immersive defense engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• US citizenship is required.
• Must be able to pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance through the Dept of Defense.
• Must be enrolled full-time at a college or university
• At minimum students must have completed their Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week for a minimum eight (8) consecutive weeks between May 2027 to September 2027.
• Selected candidates will be responsible for housing and reliable transportation for the duration of their intern assignment.
• Pursuing a Bachelor or Masters of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering
