Job summary

Serco is seeking a Submarine Shipbuilding Improvement Engineer/Analyst to support the Virginia Class submarine program at the Washington Navy Yard area. The role focuses on accelerating operational efficiency, safety, and project execution through Lean/Six Sigma methods and cross-functional collaboration.

You will analyze construction processes, identify bottlenecks, and drive data-driven improvements across engineering, production, and maintenance teams, contributing to Navy submarine readiness

Qualifications

• Must possess an active U.S. Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of submarine construction experience.
• Proficient in MS Suite products, to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Understand why it takes so long to construct submarines and analyze construction processes.
• Identify inefficiencies and production barriers in submarine construction.
• Make recommendations for process improvements and lean initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional improvement projects from conception to completion within scope and budget.
• Collect and interpret data to support continuous improvement decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, quality assurance and other departments.
• Implement digital tools for real-time production tracking and preventive maintenance schedules.
