Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama is seeking an experienced planner to define activities, budgets and schedule logic in line with EVMS guidelines. You will establish sequencing for structural components, review drawings for producibility and prepare baselines and changes with internal teams.

Qualifications include a BS degree or 1 year at Austal or a comparable shipyard, 1 year planning experience, Excel proficiency, and knowledge of EVMS/MPS/MRP.

Qualifications

• BS degree or 1 year experience at Austal USA or a comparable shipyard.
• Minimum 1 year planning experience with budgeting and work scope allocation.
• Aptitude to learn shipyard planning; Cognitive Criteria Aptitude Test score 20+.
• Computer literate; proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of EVMS and performance measurement is a plus.
• Knowledge of MPS and MRP systems is a plus.
• Strong communication with multiple departments and customers.
• Understanding scheduling concepts; ability to learn basics.
• Experience with Government contracts is a plus.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCad, ShipConstructor, and Navisworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define activities, budgets and schedule logic per EVMS guidelines.
• Establish sequencing, build location and scope for structural components.
• Collect, review and implement lessons learned from work packages and meetings.
• Incorporate internal changes into work packages and schedule.
• Review drawings for producibility and content completeness.
• Assist trades and scheduling with baseline changes transferring work to/from a subcontractor.
• Answer production questions about work scope.
• Build work packages including budgets, materials, drawings and documentation.
