Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Test Technician for the Navy AN/BYG-1 TCS at our Newport, RI site. The role focuses on testing, troubleshooting, and validating tactical control subsystems in a DoD production delivery environment.

You'll work in an Agile team, perform hands-on testing, analyze results, and travel to partner locations as needed. Submarine Fire Control experience and an Interim/Secret clearance are highly valued, with a contract-to-hire path possible.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with the US Navy's AN/BYG-1 Tactical Control System (TCS).
• Navy Submarine Fire Control Technician experience with operation and maintenance of submarine fire control systems.
• Submarine maintenance school experience at rank E4 or above preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems without direct access to software developers.
• Experience in DoD production delivery environments and testing.
• Knowledge of test engineering concepts and system modeling.
• Experience in Agile development environments with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to travel to other locations for testing and integration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct subsystem and system-of-systems testing on TCS-related hardware at primary and other sites.
• Perform hands-on testing to verify system, functional, and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers in an Agile setting to verify Navy deliveries.
• Analyze test results and trace requirements to system behavior.
• Install, configure, and maintain test bays and equipment for TCS validation.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and diagnose issues without direct developer access.
• Coordinate with cross-subsystem teams to drive issue resolution.
• Design and refine test procedures using test engineering principles.
• Support DoD production delivery testing and integration activities.
• Coordinate testing activities with local and remote teams.
• Use requirements management and system modeling tools to ensure traceability.
• Communicate test results and recommendations clearly in writing and verbally.
• Travel to partner locations as needed for testing and integration.
• Occasionally work off-shift and weekends for longevity testing and milestones.
