Amentum is seeking a Mid-to-Senior AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System Technician to support Newport News, VA. This full-time role keeps you hands-on with the Navy’s sophisticated AN/BYG-1 equipment, offering ongoing opportunities in test, maintenance, and field engineering.

Applicants should have Active Secret clearance and relevant electronics experience, with travel up to 10%. The position emphasizes collaboration with on-site customers and a strong engineering documentation discipline.

Qualifications

• Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.
• High School Diploma/GED plus five years of practical experience, or an applicable degree/formal electronics training with three years of practical experience.
• High School Diploma/GED plus ten years of practical experience, or an applicable degree/formal electronics training with six years of practical experience.
• Must pass the Submarine Embarkation Medical screening.
• Hands‑on experience configuring, troubleshooting, repairing networking equipment and Windows servers and workstations.
• Travel: Able to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Assist with test and evaluation; perform validations/verifications of AN/BYG-1 systems
• Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions (ECI)
• Develop technical data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operation procedures, and maintainability improvements
• Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise
• Interface directly with the on-site customer for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed
• Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures; review change proposals for equipment impacts
