Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Focus Factory Structural Engineer in Jacksonville, FL, to analyze and troubleshoot deck fabrication and outfitting for VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA Class submarines. The role requires strong knowledge of welding, NDT, and basic structural analysis, with interface to multiple departments to provide timely resolutions.

The candidate will work on-site, interfacing with trades, foremen, and engineering, and may require extended hours based on construction schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
• 1-5 years post graduate engineering experience
• Exposure to NX/Team Center (preferred)
• Construction experience (preferred)
• Military/Navy experience (preferred)
• Working knowledge of MRP, Electronic Desktop, Team Center and PCM (preferred)
• Prior ship-check experience in an industrial environment (preferred)
• Experience with FEA (preferred)
• Experience with welding and inspection technical publications (preferred)
• Mentorship experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of Special Emphasis programs (preferred)
