Job summary

Elite Surface Infrastructure in Colorado Springs is seeking a Subgrade Equipment Operator to join our earth and utility team. The role involves operating various power construction machines, excavating, grading, and moving materials in support of infrastructure projects.

The position is full-time, weather-dependent, with a 7:00am–5:30pm schedule, and includes benefits such as 401(k) matching, health and life insurance, an HSA, and PTO.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED is required.
• 3 years related experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required and background/drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate power construction equipment (e.g., scraper, motor grader, backhoe, loader) to excavate, move, and grade earth or move pipe.
• Locate underground services prior to starting work.
• Adjust controls to operate attachments and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, or materials and perform general cleanup.
• Repair/maintain equipment and report any issues to supervision.
• Keep records of equipment usage and materials.

Elite Surface Infrastructure (ESI) is a growing company located in Englewood Colorado and has been working along the Colorado front range since 1998. ESI is one of the largest construction companies in Colorado that self-performs a variety of services including Underground Utilities, Milling, Asphalt, Paving, Grading, Concrete, and Earthwork for Infrastructure and Infrastructure Improvement Projects in the commercial, municipal, and federal sectors.

POSITION SUMMARY

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as scraper, motor graders, trackhoes, backhoes, skidsteers, excavators, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, or move pipe. May maintain equipment in addition to other duties.Experience required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
• Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
• Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoe.
• Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
• Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakes and guidelines, ground, or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, or other materials, using graders, or related equipment.
• Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, rocks, or to distribute and level earth or terrain.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludges, trimming backfills, or building roadways or parking lots.
• Repair and maintain equipment, make emergency adjustments or assist with major repairs as necessary.
• Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkages, or power takeoff shafts to tractors.
• Operate loaders to pull out stumps, rip asphalt or concrete, rough-grade properties, or perform general cleanup.
• Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.
• Operate equipment to demolish or remove debris or to remove snow from streets, roads, or parking lots.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to commute/relocate: Colorado: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
