Job summary

The City of Corpus Christi is seeking a Construction Inspector II to join the Subdivision Team. This full-time role focuses on advanced inspections of residential and commercial subdivisions, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and project specifications for quality and safety.

Responsibilities include site inspections of roads, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure; documenting deviations; coordinating with contractors; and preparing detailed reports while maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Five (5) years of experience in municipal infrastructure construction or other related fields
• Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance upon hire
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed inspections of construction sites within assigned subdivisions, including roads, drainage systems, utilities, and other infrastructure
• Verifies that construction work adheres to approved plans, specifications, local codes, and standards
• Identify and document any deviations from project specifications, and work with contractors to resolve issues
• Monitor the progress of construction projects to ensure timely completion and compliance with established timelines
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate records of site visits, and document any discrepancies or issues encountered
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address and resolve construction-related concerns
• Assist in reviewing and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and contracts
• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations and practices
• Provide guidance and support to junior inspectors or other team members as needed
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
