Job summary

Mercy Corps is seeking a Subawards Compliance Finance Officer to monitor expenditures, review budgets and due diligence for subawards, and ensure donor and internal compliance. The role supports capacity development and safeguarding across Caribbean projects, based in Colombia or Puerto Rico with travel as needed.

The position reports to the Finance Manager and requires finance/administration experience, English fluency, and Spanish language skills, with a hybrid of field and office work

Qualifications

• Prior experience in finance, procurement, operations, or any organizational field is preferred.
• A university degree in finance, accounting or other fields is preferred
• Basic computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel and Word
• Fluent verbal and written English skills required, working proficiency in verbal Spanish required
• Ability to work effectively with an ethnically diverse team in a sensitive environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Monitor partners' expenditures to ensure alignment with the awarded budget and assist sub-awardees with due diligence and financial reporting.
• Review subrecipient budgets and budget narratives for completeness and conformance with donor requirements.
• Prepare Financial Monitoring Reports, document findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready subaward financial files throughout the subaward lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the Finance Manager and other teams to mitigate financial and compliance risks.
