Job summary

University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking a non-clinical case manager to provide individualized, strengths-based support to students of concern, coordinating care plans and connecting them with campus and community resources. The role includes crisis intervention, liaison work, and program outreach.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, experience in case management or crisis response, and strong communication and privacy ethics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, college student personnel, human services, or related field.
• Relevant experience in case management services and/or behavioral health crisis response.
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organization skills; Demonstrated awareness, knowledge, and skills related to cultural competence; Ability to express compassionate care and empathy to students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni; Knowledge of privacy and ethical guidelines; Knowledge of mental health systems and practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as secondary responder to 974-HELP assistance line and all contacts associated with the Distressed Student Protocol
• Collaborate in designing individual action plans for distressed students among resource units and agencies
• Coordinate community resources and facilitate access to medical care including coordination of hospitalizations, discharge planning, and crisis intervention
• Provide follow-up to ensure compliance with recommendations made by departmental leadership and/or CARE Team
• Support the Case Management Team by obtaining, recording, and reviewing updates for distressed students and facilitating information flow among resources
• Track referrals for distressed students from administration, faculty, staff and other members of the university community to ensure consistency and availability of accurate data.
• Develop on-going referral relationships with campus and community partners by routine outreach and education efforts.
