Job summary

New Bedford Public Schools is seeking a School Adjustment Counselor at Charles S Ashley Elementary School in New Bedford, MA to support students’ academic and social-emotional development. You will collaborate with families, teachers and community partners to promote resilience and positive school adjustment.

The role emphasizes RTI coordination, counseling in groups and individually, crisis intervention, and implementation of PBIS.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in special education, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as LMHC/LCSW/LICSW in MA.
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish/Portuguese) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and address social-emotional and behavioral concerns affecting student adjustment.
• Coordinate RTI and school-based supports with teachers, families, and community resources.
• Provide individual and group counseling for anxiety, social skills, anger management, and conflict resolution.
• Lead or participate in PBIS, crisis intervention, and risk assessments as needed.
• Collaborate with Special Education staff on IEP/504 processes and monitoring.
