Job summary

East Stroudsburg University invites applications for a Desk Assistant in the University Wide Tutoring Program. You will welcome students and visitors, help them locate tutors, and share information about tutoring services and NetTutor. This is a student-focused, on-site role.

This part-time position pays $10.00 per hour, up to 20 hours per week. Applicants must be current ESU students, at least 18, and possess English literacy skills. Background checks apply per university policy.

Qualifications

• Current ESU student.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have English literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Actively welcome students and visitors.
• Ensure students are able to find their tutors.
• Inform students about tutoring services available for specific courses.
• Inform students about NetTutor.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the tutoring space.
• Ensure tutors sign in and out.
• Ensure the tutoring schedule is current and visible.
• Keep accurate records of tutor attendance during each shift.
• Review GroupMe for tutors who are running late; communicate with students that the tutor is running late.
• Review Machform for any absences.
• Ensure cancellation list is updated and posted at the front desk.
• Report any tutor absences to the Graduate Assistants via email and/or Matthew Simmons.
• Assist graduate assistants with administrative and promotional tasks and activities as assigned.
• Organize tutoring tables and chairs; ensure chairs are pushed in, tables are cleared of debris and cleaned, and supplies replenished if necessary.
• Clean white boards (if your shift ends when tutoring center closes).
• Take down any dated flyers around the center
• Foster productivity, accountability, and professionalism during work hours.
