Job summary

Lower Merion School District Transportation - Lower Merion School District - Conshohocken, PA is seeking an Assistant Route Coordinator to support planning, routing, and maintenance of student transportation services. You will handle bus route modifications, stops, and schedules, coordinate with schools, contractors, and families, and maintain routing data for thousands of students.

This role does not involve bus driving duties and focuses on operations, data accuracy, and daily routing

Qualifications

• Assists the Route Coordinator with planning, coordination, and maintenance of student transportation services.
• Maintains accurate routing data and transportation records for more than 10,000 students.
• Coordinates with schools, contractors, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders.
• Uses routing software and GPS to assist with routes and stops.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Route Coordinator in responding to phone calls and emails from parents/guardians regarding bus stops, routes, schedules, and transportation concerns.
• Communicates changes to bus stop locations, pickup/drop-off times, and route assignments as directed.
• Coordinates with public, non-public, and special education schools regarding transportation assignments and schedules.
• Maintains accurate transportation records and updates assignments throughout the year.
• Reviews routes for capacity and efficiency and suggests improvements.
• Coordinates transportation resources based on student IEPs and needs, including wheelchair-accessible buses.
• Serves as primary contact for split-custody transportation inquiries and for transportation contractors.
• Creates and maintains operational spreadsheets and summer route records.
• Ensures accuracy of student alerts in systems like PowerSchool and Transfinder.
