Job summary

Rohrer Bus, based in Duncannon, PA, seeks a School Van Driver to transport students to and from school safely and professionally.

You will follow routes, perform vehicle safety checks, manage passengers, assist with loading, and report incidents to dispatch. Qualified applicants have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history and must pass background and drug screening. Fleet tech like Samsara and Dayforce may be used.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory driving history.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Medical: Ability to pass initial and routine physical examinations and drug/alcohol screening programs.
• Comfortable using fleet and workforce technology systems such as Samsara and Dayforce.

Responsibilities

• Transport students safely and courteously in accordance with all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and local policies.
• Route Navigation: Follow assigned routes and schedules to pick up and drop off students at designated stops.
• Vehicle Safety Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety checks of the vehicle, including lights, brakes, tires, and emergency exits.
• Passenger Management: Maintain a safe, orderly environment inside the vehicle. Enforce passenger safety rules and report behavioral issues to school administrators in writing per district policy.
• Loading & Unloading: Assist students in boarding and exiting the vehicle safely, including securing wheelchairs or other mobility devices as required.
• Incident Reporting: Immediately report any delays, mechanical defects, or accidents/incidents to dispatch and management.
• Attend all required safety and training meetings. Conduct Emergency Evacuation Drills per company and district policies.
