The University of Houston is seeking a Program Manager II to oversee the day-to-day operations of a large department, including staff supervision, budgeting, and program processes. The role focuses on student transition and retention initiatives, analytics, and reporting to support graduation goals.
Responsibilities include developing procedures, managing fiscal activities, and coordinating with campus partners to ensure program effectiveness and timely completion of degree requirements.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of boththeoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical orprofessional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than oneprofessional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normallyobtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree froma college or university or an equivalent in-depth specializedtraining program that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year ofdirectly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing:None.

The Program Manager II serves as a key contributor to Retention andGraduation Initiatives' efforts to support student transition,engagement, and persistence. The position oversees the planning,implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement oftransition- and retention-focused initiatives, including First-YearCohort initiatives, and specific initiatives for first-yearstudents in UHin4, Cougar Tracks, DENS, the First-Year Class Photo,and other student success programs.
This position develops, implements, and assesses programs andservices that support students during key transition points,including entry to the University of Houston, progression throughthe first year, and continued advancement toward degree completion.This position collaborates with campus partners to design andexecute strategic initiatives that promote student engagement,belonging, academic success, and retention. Responsibilitiesinclude monitoring participation and student outcomes, maintainingprogram records, and ensuring alignment with departmental anduniversity goals related to student success and timelygraduation.
The position analyzes program data, prepares reports andrecommendations, manages project timelines, supports studentoutreach and engagement efforts, and serves as a liaison amongcampus stakeholders to enhance the student experience and foster aseamless continuum of support from matriculation throughgraduation.
