Job summary

American University is seeking a part-time Anderson Computing Complex Student Technician to support daily operations of the ACC and University Library. The role assists with computers, printers, and classroom technology, maintaining a welcoming environment and helping faculty with instructional tech use.

The student technician will provide support in the Mac Lab, help patrons locate software and resources, and uphold professional standards while balancing multiple tasks in a busy lab setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic knowledge of computer and printer troubleshooting.
• Experience using both Mac and Windows computers.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications and/or Final Cut Pro.

Responsibilities

• Assist full-time technicians with updating, maintaining, and troubleshooting computers and printers in the ACC and satellite labs.
• Monitor and inspect the condition and functionality of computer lab equipment.
• Provide technical support and assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
• Help patrons locate software, training resources, classrooms, and other technology-related services.
• Provide technical support in the Mac Lab.
• Maintain a professional, clean, and quiet environment conducive to learning and productivity.
