Position Summary

The Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time University Supervisors of Student Teachers and Residents.

MSU Denver enrolls over 16,000 students, with nearly 60% first generation and over 55% students of color. Located in downtown Denver, it is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), an INSIGHT into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award winner for 10 consecutive years, and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado. The university serves the most diverse undergraduate population in the state, including many first-generation and DACA students. Responsibilities

Serve as University Supervisor for teacher licensure candidates in student teaching and/or residency placements in K-12 Art, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, Early Childhood, Elementary, Music, Physical Education, Secondary Education (English, Math, Social Studies, Science), Special Education, and World Languages.

For single-semester Student Teaching Supervisors, responsibilities include:

  • Observe, coach, and evaluate teacher candidates’ performance during placements
  • Conduct 3-4 site visits over the 16-week placement for observation, coaching, and assessment; complete mid and final evaluations
  • Facilitate 4 hours of student teaching seminars across the semester, often collaborating with faculty and other supervisors
  • Guide and evaluate students’ work on the Collection of Teaching Artifacts and Reflections final project
  • Maintain communication with the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships (OCEP)
  • Attend professional development and training sessions

Supervisors must be available for school visits during the school day and for communication with OCEP and students no later than August 1st (fall) or January 2nd (spring).

Affiliate faculty duties include teaching courses (in person or online), preparing materials, grading, providing feedback, addressing student questions, maintaining office hours, and complying with university policies. Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
  • Teaching experience in public or private schools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree plus 30 semester hours of relevant post-degree study
  • Experience in supervision in content area
  • Supervisory or coaching experience (e.g., principal, department chair, instructional coach, mentor teacher)

Terms of Employment

Part-time, at-will, per credit hour, dependent on budget and enrollment. Teaching may require in-person or on-campus presence.

Based on credit hours and university policy.
