Job summary

Beam in Lynwood Unified School District is seeking a part-time paraprofessional to provide direct support to students with special needs during school hours. The role runs Monday through Friday and may include in-class activities, technology assistance, and behavior management under supervision.

You will work with district staff to create a positive learning atmosphere, reinforce lessons, and help with routine care tasks as needed. RBT training is available for growth within the program.

Qualifications

• Understand and anticipate the needs of children
• Operate classroom technology equipment
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and adults
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality
• Show competence and assist with academic skills, e.g. reading and math
• Communicate orally with correct language usage

Responsibilities

• Direct support to students with special needs
• Participate in activities planned by the school district staff
• Assists in the preparation and development of instructional training activities and materials
• Assists in-class activities based on specific instructions
• Maintains neat and orderly classroom environment
• Uses effective teaching and behavior management techniques
• Under supervision, assist with assessing student needs
• Provide staff with general impressions and observations
