Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Rushford Center seeks a Student Support Specialist to assist the educational team and address student needs under certified staff supervision. The role focuses on observation, safety, and supporting learning, with duties aligned to the IEP and behavior management plans.

The position involves collaborating with teachers, clinicians, and other support staff, plus handling routine clerical tasks as part of a comprehensive student support program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working with children/adolescents in an educational or clinical setting.
• Valid driver's license.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of certified staff, coaches a student towards established goals which increase academic success and decrease behavioral disruptions.
• Provides specialized, individual, academic support and instruction as outlined by the Individualized Education Program.
• Provides observation and monitoring of assigned students to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
• Supports behavior management programs implemented by certified staff.
• Works collaboratively with assigned teachers, clinicians, and other support staff.
• Assists the program with routine clerical duties.
• Participates in staff, team, and unit meetings and committees as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as required.
