Qualifications

  • Master's degree in field related to school adjustment counseling.
  • Certification/licensure as LMHC/LCSW/LICSW or eligible.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.
  • 3+ years in special education/student services.
  • 3-5 years in mental health/clinical social work.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess academic/behavioral concerns through analysis of factors affecting student adjustment.
  • Serve as liaison between families and school to promote collaborative planning.
  • Educate families on attendance, graduation, and college/career planning.
  • Implement therapeutic strategies to improve behavior and social interactions.
  • Develop RTI model with school and community supports.
  • Provide individual and group counseling (anxiety, social skills, anger management).
  • Coordinate school bullying prevention program (Olweus).
  • Develop behavioral improvement plans and PBIS for the school.
  • Conduct classroom meetings and psycho-educational groups.
  • Support transitions between grades and post-secondary planning.
  • Aid IEP monitoring and coordination, including meetings when needed.
  • Complete IEP goals, progress reports, and 504 plan coordination.
  • Conduct risk assessments and data reporting for program fidelity.
  • Provide translations and staff consultation as needed.
  • Conduct staff development on social-emotional-behavioral factors.
