Job summary

Trinity Day Academy in New Bedford, MA seeks an experienced School Counselor (Guidance Counselor) to support a comprehensive counseling program for K–12 students. The role focuses on academic, social, emotional, and behavioral services and collaboration with families, teachers, and administration to promote student success.

The counselor will coordinate RTI services, student scheduling, and 504 plans, while delivering individual and group counseling and ensuring compliance with DESE guidelines.

Qualifications

• Certification in proper area and level by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Initial Guidance Counselor)
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology, or related field
• Licensed or eligible for LMHC, LCSW, or LICSW
• Preferred fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
• Three years of experience in student services, special education, or mental health/clinical settings

Responsibilities

• Work through Student Services to address academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of students
• Serve as liaison with families to promote collaborative educational planning
• Educate families about attendance, graduation, and college/career planning (6-12)
• Develop RTI model with in-school and community supports and interventions
• Collect statistics and prepare reports for Principal and supervisors
• Schedule students and assist with course/subject selection
• Coordinate 504 process and monitor plan implementation
• Participate in team meetings to ensure quality special education services
• Provide counseling for anxiety, relationships, bullying, conflict resolution, and more

Education

Master’s degree in counseling or related field

Initial Guidance Counselor Certification (Massachusetts)

Bachelor's degree preferred
