Job summary

South Kingstown Public Schools seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support instructional staff, supervise students, and reinforce learning in a Wakefield classroom setting. This role involves direct student interaction, small-group instruction, and collaboration with teachers to promote a safe, supportive learning environment.

The TA will assist with arrival/dismissal, organize learning stations, monitor progress data, and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher required.
• Two years of college or completion of TA pre-employment training preferred.
• ParaPro assessment passed or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Support and supervise arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess as assigned.
• Organize materials and set up learning stations for groups.
• Supervise students and assist those with difficulties.
• Provide instructional support and reinforce subjects in small groups.
• Collect data to monitor student growth and skills.
• Follow safety and behavior plans and maintain student supervision.
• Complete Medicaid logs after training where applicable.
• Participate in district professional development.
