Job summary

Highlander Charter School in Providence, RI seeks a Teacher Assistant (K-8) to support classroom routines and student transitions. You will provide individualized and small-group academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support, and assist with IEP/BIP data collection.

Full-time position contingent on enrollment; expects strong communication, collaboration, and ability to adapt materials for diverse learners. Prior TA training or ParaPro is preferred; citizenship/residency required.

Qualifications

• Must have an Associate's degree, 60 college credits specific to Education or Special Education.
• OR
• Have completed a RIDE approved Teacher Assistant Training class with certificate and passed the ParaPro Exam
• CPI/Deescalation Training

Responsibilities

• Implement classroom routines and support student transitions throughout the school day
• Provide individualized and small-group academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support
• Assist teachers with classroom management, instructional activities, and adapting materials to meet diverse student needs
• Support implementation of IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), including data collection and progress monitoring
• Foster an inclusive, positive, and supportive learning environment
• Assist students with communication, self-regulation, social skills, adaptive functioning, and personal care needs as assigned
• Monitor student progress and communicate concerns to appropriate staff members
• Participate in timely data services input for Medicaid billing
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
