Job summary

The Student Support Paraprofessional at Richmond Community School District provides academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to At-Risk and/or Special Education students.

The role uses a flexible model, including push-in support within the general education classroom, one-on-one support with individual students or small groups, and resource center support in a structured environment designed to address academic and behavioral needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Meet state and federal requirements for paraprofessional certification.
• Experience working with children in educational or support settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to follow teacher/administrator directions, adapt to diverse student needs, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide Push-In Model support within general education classrooms.
• Assist students one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and provide interventions.
• Supervise and support students in the Resource Support Center.
• Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to implement IEPs and intervention plans.
• Communicate with teachers and staff about student progress and needs.
