Job summary

The paraprofessional role provides support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms, working with individual or small groups of students and performing clerical tasks for teachers and staff.

The position reports to the building Principal and involves adapting activities, assisting with assignments, supervising students, and maintaining records to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.

Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• Basic math including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read manuals, write documents following prescribed formats.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities and materials to support objectives.
• Administers assignments, tests, homework assignments, and make-up work to support teachers.
• Assists students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey information.
• Communicates with teachers to evaluate progress and implement goals.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under supervision to reinforce concepts.
• Maintains classroom equipment, records, and files to ensure safety and compliance.
• Monitors students in various settings to provide a safe learning environment.
• Reports observations and incidents to instructional/administrative personnel.
• Responds to emergencies to resolve safety concerns.
• Supports teachers and staff in curriculum implementation.
