Job summary

The Arlington Public Schools in Arlington, MA seek a Dedicated Specialized Support Paraprofessional to assist students in both general and special education settings, enabling access to the curriculum. The SSP will work closely with teachers, specialists, staff, and families to promote inclusion and learning.

Responsibilities include implementing instruction and behavior plans, traveling with students between classes, and supporting crisis management when needed.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to coordinate with a team including teachers, special educators, staff and parents.
• Experience supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred training such as SafetyCare or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Establishes emotionally supportive rapport with students.
• Travels to general education classes with students as needed.
• Implements content, instructional and performance modifications as designed.
• Shares information between support personnel during breaks.
• Participates in planning meetings and professional development.
• Greets students, assists with arrival/dismissal, debriefs with teacher.
• Implements behavior management plans as written.
• Assists with crisis management per protocols when required.
