Job summary

Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) seeks a paraprofessional to support preschool students in classrooms, on the school bus, and in 1:1 settings throughout the school day. The role requires collaboration with lead teachers to foster educational and social development.

The position includes assisting with instructional technology, behavior support, and data collection while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or earned GED; associates degree preferred for highly qualified individuals
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to provide a continuity of services for students
• Willingness and ability to assist students with challenging behaviors
• Ability to work in a team centered approach
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literate

Responsibilities

• Report for duty by 7:30a and remain at school until 4:30pm, to assist students on the district bus four days a week
• Assist in the educational and social development of students under direction of the lead teacher
• Assist the teacher and students with general instructional and assistive technology devices
• Encourage students to exercise independence, autonomy, and responsibility
• Assist with classroom management and enforcement of rules
• Provide prompt communication and feedback regarding student progress, behavior data, and effectiveness of interventions
• Collect and record data related to behavior goals and therapeutic objectives
• Complete Handle With Care training and participate in annual recertification
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters and assist with student records
• Assist in maintaining an orderly classroom and a healthy, safe learning environment
• Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing daily activities
• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and IEPs with fidelity
• Teach and practice emotional regulation and coping skills
• Apply de-escalation techniques and proactive behavior support strategies
• Facilitate student transitions and reinforce routines
• Promote positive behavioral supports during structured academic and unstructured settings
• Assume responsibility for small groups and 1:1 activities to reinforce learning concepts
