Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college credit or an associate's degree, or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment.
• Parapro Assessment demonstrates content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group and individual pupil instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
• Assist teacher with instructional activities.
• Escort students from room to room.
• Toileting students is sometimes required.
• Involves work with both special education and regular students.
• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
• Supervise students at recess and lunch.
• Assist students with classroom assignments.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes.
• Assist teacher in filing materials and preparing paperwork.
• Alert teachers to problems observed.
• PMT may be required.
