Job summary

Lanier Technical College in Gainesville, GA, Hall Campus, is seeking a full-time Student Support Specialist to support student engagement and success within Student Support Services. The role is campus-based and requires FERPA compliance and a background check.

The position reports to the Director of Counseling and Student Support Services and offers a benefits-eligible, non-exempt employment status with possible evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Three years of related work experience, to include working with the public in a customer service environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours and maintain a 40-hour workweek, including evenings and weekends on occasion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective organization and time management skills.
• Interpersonal skills and dealing with the public.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative support to assist with service delivery.
• Collects and compiles data for Special Populations, Accessibility Services and Career Services departments.
• Enters information from forms, records, and reports into BANNER and other designated data management systems, codes information accurately and consistently.
• Administers and monitors accommodated testing for Accessibility Services, ensuring compliance with approved accommodations and proper documentation.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes major departmental events including the Annual Career Fair, Resource Fair, Campus Life events and other projects.
• Manages student ID process; verifies enrollment and identity prior to issuing ID; operates ID card equipment and maintains supplies.
• Assists in training and supervising work‑study students in the department.
• Provides back-up front desk support to Receptionist one day per week.
• Fosters a welcoming, student-centered environment and communicates effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Maintains confidentiality and FERPA compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
