Job summary

The Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Student Support Assistant for East Middle School. The role involves collaborating with the district and building MTSS teams to identify students in need of interventions and to facilitate instruction in academics, social, and behavioral skills.

The successful candidate will document observations, monitor attendance, support 504 accommodations, and participate in safety and crisis response

Qualifications

• Willing to obtain Missouri Substitute Certificate (36 college hours or online course).
• Previous experience working with children in a school setting preferred.
• Salary range $17.08–$21.24 per hour, depending on education and experience.

• Monitors attendance concerns and coordinates with administrators/counselors.
• Serves on the Student Response Team to provide immediate crisis support.
• Participates in trainings to enhance student support knowledge and youth development.

Job description

The Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Student Support Assistant for East Middle School.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the district and building MTSS team to identify students in need of interventions.
• Facilitates individual and small group instruction of academics, social, and behavioral skills.
• Assists assigned instructional staff in improving students' learning skills, self-care, and/or social development for the purpose of providing learning concepts and materials.
• Documents observations of student performance in academic and school activities (e.g. social skills, behavior, assignments, etc.) for the purpose of collecting data on the fidelity of interventions.
• Participates in communication and collaboration with teachers and staff regarding students' progress for the purpose of participating in needs assessments and/or assisting in evaluating progress.
• Supervises student behavior and performance (e.g. recovery room, in‑school suspension, lunch detentions, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety of the students and supporting established success plans.
• Facilitates student 504 accommodations as needed.
• Assists in monitoring for attendance concerns and follows up with administrators and counselors as needed to address attendance issues.
• Serves on the Student Response Team to provide immediate support during student crises or emergencies and collaborates with appropriate staff members to ensure student safety and well‑being.
• Participates in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to student support and youth development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be willing to obtain a Missouri Substitute Certificate which requires a minimum of 36 college hours or completion of an online certification course.
• Previous experience working with children in a school setting preferred.
• $17.08 - $21.24/hour depending on relevant education and experience.
