Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD seeks an Aide/Paraprofessional for Elementary resources for the 2026-2027 school year. The position starts immediately and runs 187 days annually, with a salary of $21,739 IP-2 as approved by the Board of Trustees.

The role supports teachers by preparing instructional materials, assisting students with disabilities, supervising during the day, and helping with records, equipment, and behavior management.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• Experience with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust daily routine.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must have one of: 48 hours of college credits, Associates or higher degree, or CFISD proficiency test (70+).

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
• Help manage behavior of students, intervene in crisis situations and restrain disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Help supervise students during the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or supervisor.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
