Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District seeks an Aide/Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 Adaptive Behavior program at the Elementary level. The role supports the teacher with instructional materials, classroom organization and student care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and experience with children. Position is 187 days with a base salary of $21,739 per year, plus a $3,000 annual stipend for adaptive behavior aides.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must have one of the following: a. 48 hours of college credits, OR b. Associates or higher degree, OR c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare and adapt instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, books and supplies.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning.
• Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs and personal hygiene.
• Help manage behavior of students; intervene in crises and restrain disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed.
• Learn and adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs.
• Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus and playground duty.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
