Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking a Student Success Specialist to support retention and completion initiatives. You will screen students for academic issues, refer them to campus resources, and track outcomes to improve success rates.

The role leads the student ambassador program and collaborates with multiple departments to develop marketing content, gather data, and report results. A grant-funded position offers growth with ongoing funding dependent on program results.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; related experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required for some roles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management tools.

About this role

Under general supervision, responsible for providing operational support to student retention and completion initiatives and programs. Meets with students to screen for academic issues and follows up with the appropriate personnel to resolve issues as necessary. Collects and tracks student success data and identifies barriers to retention and completion. Leads the student ambassador program. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.

What a day of a Student Success Specialist looks like:

• Engages with students to identify academic and personal challenges impacting success. Refers students to the appropriate campus resources and follows up on outcomes.
• Maintains and ensures accurate records of program participation and student interactions.
• Coordinates the activities of two or more staff. Assists in scheduling and administrative requirements. This may include student workers, part-time, full-time, temporary, and volunteers.
• Assists with student panels, co-sponsored events, student success workshops, and other programs focused on increasing student retention and completion.
• Liaises with college personnel for the development of marketing content for the department.
• Collects, organizes, and presents retention and completion data. Prepares required reports for various internal and external requests.
• Provides information to the public, students, and staff regarding programs and services of a department, campus, or College.
• Collaborates among departments, functions or groups, within and outside the College. Communicates information through various methods to appropriate personnel and others.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  The minimum base pay for this position starts at $19.52 hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
