Job summary

MGRM Pinnacle Inc. in Tempe, AZ is seeking an Academic Advisor – Student Success & Retention to manage a caseload of students, provide consistent advising, and support progression toward graduation.

This on-site role requires proactive relationship-building, strong follow-through, and collaboration with families, teachers, and site staff to monitor progress and intervene when needed. Bachelor's degree preferred with 2+ years in academic advising or related student-facing work; bilingual

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 2+ years of experience in academic advising, student services, education, case management, youth services, enrollment, retention, or related student-facing role preferred.
• Experience managing an assigned caseload or providing ongoing individualized student support is strongly preferred.
• Experience reviewing transcripts, graduation requirements, academic plans, or course assignments is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, technology, documentation, and follow-through skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ownership of an assigned caseload of students and serve as a consistent point of contact throughout their academic program.
• Conduct individual advising sessions to understand student goals, progress, challenges, and barriers, developing individualized action plans when additional support is needed.
• Maintain regular contact with assigned students and provide proactive guidance rather than waiting for students to request assistance.
• Coordinate with families, teachers, site staff, attendance personnel, and other departments to address student needs.
• Maintain consistent and professional communication with students and families through phone, email, text, virtual meetings, and other approved communication methods.
• Monitor academic progress indicators and identify students falling behind, implementing timely, tiered interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, site personnel, attendance staff, and other departments to address barriers and escalate when needed.
• Conduct direct interventions with students and families considering withdrawal and identify solutions to support continued enrollment.
• Support retention and re-engagement initiatives, including events, orientations, conferences, and outreach activities.
• Review verified academic records and maintain individualized graduation plans; explain requirements and remaining credits to students.
