Job summary

Halifax Community College seeks a Student Development Advisor reporting to the Director of Student Support Services. The role ensures the SSS plan of operation is carried out per the grant, coordinating work plans and acting as a liaison among SSS, faculty, and staff.

The advisor will identify and advise a diverse student population, manage a large caseload, and coordinate retention activities, advising, and college transfer programming across campus.

Qualifications

• Advises and assists students in registering for classes.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of TRiO and institutional policies.
• Proficiency in information technology including browsers, word processors, email, spreadsheets, and databases.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordination of the SSS work plan and serve as liaison between SSS, faculty, and staff.
• Identify and advise a diverse population of students and maintain a caseload of 125+ participants.
• Plan retention activities, workshops, and college transfer programming; assist in admissions and financial aid processes.
